DFB confirms details of internationals to be played after World Cup

At its conference in Frankfurt today, the DFB presidium has determined the opponents and venues for three internationals to be played by the German men’s national team in the second half of the year. The first game will be Die Mannschaft’s Nations League opener against France on 6th September 2018 in Munich. The second game to be played in September is to be confirmed at a later date. The final two internationals to be played in front of the home fans will take place on 15th November in Leipzig against World Cup hosts Russia and on 19th November in Gelsenkirchen against the Netherlands.

President of the DFB, Reinhard Grindel says: “Our primary goal once the World Cup is over is to be given the honour of holding the EURO 2024 tournament at the end of September. The home game in Munich presents one more chance to underline just how much Germany loves football and how we are up to the task of hosting an international celebration of football once more.”

Manager of Die Mannschaft, Oliver Bierhoff adds: The two home games to conclude the year give us two more opportunities to thank our fans for their unwavering support. By holding the games in Gelsenkirchen and Leipzig, we can do that in two different regions and therefore emphasise how the team is at home no matter where they play in Germany.”

Overview of the internationals to be played in the second half of the year:

6th September 2018: Germany vs. France (Nations League) in Munich

13th October 2018: Holland vs. Germany (Nations League) tbc

16th October 2018: France vs. Germany (Nations League) tbc

15th November 2018: Germany vs. Russia (Friendly) in Leipzig

19th November 2018: Germany vs. Holland (Nations League) in Gelsenkirchen
