Wolfsburg retain DFB Women's Cup after victory over Sand.

Wolfsburg Women completed a league and cup double on Saturday afternoon by beating SC Sand 2-1 in Köln’s RheinEnergie Stadion to win the DFB-Pokal. In a repeat of last year’s final and scoreline, the Wolves ran out narrow winners after two goals from Pernille Harder in the second half. Jovana Damnjanovic pulled one back for Sand just after Alexandra Popp had been dismissed for the Bundesliga champions, who ended the game with nine players after Sara Björk Gunnarsdottir received her marching orders in injury time.

That was as close as the club from a village of 2000 people got though, and Sand’s wait for a Pokal triumph goes on. For Wolfsburg, the silverware was the perfect parting gift for Ralf Kellermann. After nine titles in the past five years, the 48-year-old will now move upstairs into a sporting director role with the VfL Wolfsburg women’s side.
