Germany debutant Timo Werner suffered a pulled hamstring during Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over England. The RB Leipzig forward will not travel to Baku for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan as a result.
“It was a great first game and I really enjoyed it,” said Werner, who will leave the team base in Kamen for Leipzig today. “Hopefully I will be able to come back a few more times yet,” he added. Werner, who has made seven appearances at U21 level, was brought off for Thomas Müller in the 77th minute of yesterday’s game in Dortmund.
