Meanwhile, Germany manager Stefan Kuntz has nominated Panathinaikos’ Odisseas Vlachodimos in Huth’s place. The 23-year-old spent his younger years with VfB Stuttgart before moving to Greece in the January 2016, where he has made a total of 21 appearances in the league. Vlachodimos made his debut for the Germany U21s in Stuttgart against Portugal on March 28th of this year, and has played at every level of international football between the U15s and U20s.
The U21 national team are preparing for their upcoming tournament by running a 25 man training camp in Grassau, starting on Thursday. The squad will be cut down to 23 players ahead of the European Championship in Poland by June 6th, with the first game of the tournament for Germany coming in Group C against the Czech Republic on June 18th.
