Schubert extends contract with Gladbach

Head coach André Schubert has extended his contract with the club by two years until 2019. Borussia Mönchengladbach made the announcement on Tuesday before their Champions League match against FC Barcelona on Wednesday at 20:45 CEST. Schubert took Gladbach from the bottom of the table to a Champions League post last season. “He’s done a lot of good work. He’s got the team into the Champions League and we’ve earned 65 points in the 34 matches he’s been in charge of. That’s an impressive record,” said Sporting Director Max Eberl.

Schubert took over as caretaker manager in September 2015 and signed a permanent contract with the club just two months later after getting six wins and a draw in his first games in charge.

Borussia achieved 1.91 points per game on average in Schubert’s first year in charge of the club, the most successful record of any manager. Carlo Ancelotti is the only Bundesliga manager who currently has a better record after winning all of his last five league matches with Bayern München.
