Real Madrid and Toni Kroos crowned La Liga Champions

Real Madrid and Toni Kroos have been crowned the champions of Spain. It’s Los Blancos’ 33rd La Liga title in their history, and was secured with a 2-0 over Málaga on the season’s final matchday. This triumph comes just 14 days ahead of their highly-anticipated Champions League final against Juventus, who also won their country's title today. Another Germany international in Marc-André ter Stegen was involved in the race for La Liga, but his Barcelona side couldn’t catch Real, despite winning also winning this weekend (4-2).

Cristiano Ronaldo got the match off to a dream start for Madrid, putting his side up 1-0 inside 2 minutes. Real only needed a point before the game started, but had they lost and Barcelona won, the title would have gone to the Catalans. However, Zinedine Zidane’s men held their nerve and brought the three points home. Karim Benzema doubled their lead in the 55th minute and all but sealed the trophy with 35 minutes still to play.
