PSG top after Draxler return

French Champions Paris Saint-Germain have returned to the top of Ligue 1, with their title rivals AS Monaco yet to play this weekend. PSG triumphed 2-0 at home against HSC Montpellier and now have a three point advantage over Monaco, who could join them back at the top with a win this evening (21:15 CEST). The team from the principality however have two games in hand over their counterparts from the capital, and could draw level with PSG on 80 points at the summit of the league tonight.

World Champion Julian Draxler returned to the matchday squad for his side’s 25th victory this campaign, after an ankle injury had seen him miss the Parisians last few games. He was subbed on in the 81st minute for Javier Pastore, while teammate and DFB Team goalkeeper Kevin Trapp played the full 90 minutes. The South American duo of Edinson Cavani (29’) and Angel Di Maria (48’) were decisive for Unai Emery’s men.
