Petermann to miss Netherlands game with ankle injury

Lena Petermann will be unable to feature in the Germany women’s national team’s upcoming game against the Netherlands on Tuesday (16:10 CEST) due to an ankle complaint. The SC Freiburg forward will leave the squad on Monday to return to Freiburg for an MRI scan.

Head coach Steffi Jones stated that her team and she wanted to take “no risks” on Petermann’s injury, having decided in conjunction with SC Freiburg’s head coach and team doctors that it would be “better to leave them to assess the exact nature of the issues.” Jones will not be exercising the option of calling up a replacement for the departing Petermann.
