Leupolz extends contract in Munich

Olympic gold medallist Melanie Leupolz has extended her contract at FC Bayern Munich for another two years until 2019. This was confirmed by the club on Thursday. The midfielder’s initial contract was meant to run out on 30th June 2017. Leupolz transferred to FC Bayern Munich from SC Freiburg where she won the league in two consecutive years.

The 22-year-old has played in 48 matches for the Germany women’s national team, not only winning the European Championship in 2013 but also winning an Olympic gold medal last Friday in the final against Sweden in Rio de Janeiro.
