Toni Kroos and Real Madrid have suffered their second loss of the season. On Matchday 16 of La Liga, the side from the capital were defeated by Valencia 2-1 in the Mestalla. Simone Zaza gave the hosts an early lead with a contester for goal of the month, while Fabian Orellana doubled his side’s advantage five minutes later. Zaza controlled the ball well with his back to goal from a cross on the right, turned quickly and fired the ball into the far top corner with his left foot.
Cristiano Ronaldo got a goal back for Los Blancos shortly before half time, heading in a Marcelo cross. Despite this, in the second half, Kroos and Co. pushed for an equaliser, but Valencia stood strong and brought home the three points.
Despite the loss, Real continue at the top of the league, four points ahead of Marc-André ter Stegen’s Barcelona, while they’ve also played a game less. With the win, Valencia have moved up a place – from 15th to 14th.
