Kroos chosen as Kicker ‘Man of the Year’

Germany international and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has been honoured by Kicker as the ‘2016 Man of the Year’. “His achievements speak for themselves. A two-time Champions League winner with two different clubs as well as a world champion with the national side,” said Germany head coach Joachim Löw in his congratulatory speech to Kicker. “But his achievement really comes down to his consistency, which has allowed him to become world class. Week in week out, game after game, in the league, the Champions League and the national team.”

Kroos won the Champions League and the Club World Cup with Real Madrid this year. “Toni has become an international star. He is a definite in terms of our plans for defending our title at the World Cup at Russia 2018,” Löw said on the 26-year-old midfielder. “Toni has also matured a lot off the pitch. He takes responsibility, stands for clear values and is very sociable. He is an absolute role model.”
