International fixtures for 2017 confirmed: four locations announced

The DFB has today confirmed the schedule of games for the Germany national team in 2017. It was already known that Dortmund would play host to the team at least once in their friendly against England on 22nd March. They will play in Nuremberg in the World Cup qualifying match against San Marino on 10th June, and in Stuttgart on 4th September for the match with Norway. They will also travel to Kaiserslauten for the clash with Azerbaijan on 8th October.

Should Joachim Löw’s side qualify directly for the World Cup, they will play a friendly match in Cologne on 14th November against an opponent who will also not be involved in the World Cup qualifying play-off round. If Germany are involved in the play-offs, the DFB will have a variety of locations to choose from for the game.

Grindel: “Fans can look forward to enjoyable games”

On the choice of game locations, DFB President Reinhard Grindel said that “We have started the World Cup qualification process very well and with a lot of consistency. Our fans can look forward to enjoyable games with the aim of our qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Every game location for the team over the next year is a traditional place for football and I am sure that we will get a good reaction when there.”

General Manager Oliver Bierhoff stated: “A national team match is always a special occasion for both the players and the fans. The team know that the fans will get behind them when things are not going well. We are very excited for the next year and the five home games we have to play.
