Germany women's team meets in Frankfurt

The women’s national team will meet in Frankfurt today to complete their final preparatory activities ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (3rd – 20th August). Head coach Silvia Neid’s team will complete a number of training sessions before they travel to Brazil on 29th July.

The team will be lead by captain Saskia Bartusiak who achieved bronze with the national team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Five other players with Olympic experience will also be a part of the squad in Annike Krahn, Anja Mittag, Babett Peter and Simone Laudehr, who were also there in 2008. There are 16 outfield players and two goalkeepers in the Olympic squad, with four additional players on standby.

The team will travel directly to São Paulo on Friday, where the DFB women will face Zimbabwe in their first match of the Olympic Games on 3rd August (23:00 CEST). This is followed by their encounter with Australia on 6th August (23:00 CEST) also in São Paulo. The DFB women will then travel to the capital, Brasilia, for their final group match against Canada on 9th August (21:00 CEST). The final will be played on 19th August in Rio de Janeiro.
