The Germany Women's friendly, set to be played in Regensburg on 13th July 2016, has been postponed to a later date. After the opponents withdrew at short notice, there is not enough time to find an acceptable replacement team for the last friendly ahead of travelling to Brazil because the official FIFA period for the Olympic Games in Rio (3rd-20th August) starts on 20th July.
"The last-minute cancellation of our originally envisaged opponents is of course frustrating. Unfortunately, the associations don’t have much access to or time with their players outside the international periods due to the current setup of the league or the holiday period between seasons. Therefore, despite fully investigating the situation, it was not possible to change the requested association’s plans at short notice," said Germany Women's team general manager Doris Fitschen.
The friendly in Regensburg will be rescheduled for a later date.
