A comfortable win for Barcelona and Ter Stegen

Spanish champions FC Barcelona coasted to their fourth win of the season, despite playing without the injured Lionel Messi. The Catalans recorded a convincing 5-0 win over Sporting Gijon on matchday six of La Liga, with Germany national keeper Marc-André ter Stegen in the side. The win moved Barcelona up to first in the table, until later this evening at least.

Luis Suarez (29’) and Rafinha (32’) put Barcelona into a 2-0 lead at half-time. Neymar (81’and 88’) and Arda Turan (85’) completed the rout in the second-half. Sporting Gijon’s Alverto Lora was sent off in the 74th minute, after being shown a second yellow card.

Head coach Luis Enrique had to do without superstar Lionel Messi at the Estadio El Molinón, after he injured his groin in last Wednesday’s crunch encounter with Champions League finalists Atlético Madrid.
