Bundesliga 2 relegation play-off: 1860 draw 1-1 in Regensburg

A saved penalty, a red card and a late equaliser for an under-20 international - 1860 Munich’s Bundesliga 2 relegation play-off with Jahn Regensburg had it all. The Lions however have left themselves in a good position to retain their second tier status for next season after coming away with a draw. Marc Lais gave Regensburg the lead in the second minute and despite having more chances could not double their lead before half-time. Munich grew stronger after the break and got their reward 12 minutes from time thanks to a goal from Florian Neuhaus.

The drama was not over though, as Marin Pongracic received his marching orders for a second bookable offence and had to watch on from the dressing room as teammate Stefan Ortega saved Andreas Geipl’s spot kick to ensure a draw.

The second leg takes place next Tuesday at 18:00CEST in the Allianz Arena.
