World Player of the Year Kessler eyeing March comeback

Following her meniscus injury in October, newly crowned Women’s World Player of the Year Nadine Keßler is eyeing a return to action in March. “I hope that I can be back helping my teammates in roughly two months’ time,” said the VfL Wolfsburg midfielder, who won the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Bundesliga title last season.

The World Cup in Canada (6th June – 5th July) is firmly in the 26-year-old’s sights: “I will do my utmost to ensure I’m an option for the national team coach. Hopefully I will be in my best form too.”

Keßler has returned to running exercises following surgery on her left knee and has started light ball work. The Wolves’ skipper has been limited to one Bundesliga appearance this season due to her knee problems.
