U21s without Kimmich, Arnold and Stendera

DFB manager Horst Hrubesch will have to make do without Joshua Kimmich (Bayern München), Maximilian Arnold (VfL Wolfsburg) and Marc Stendera (Eintracht Frankfurt) in both upcoming European U21 Championship qualifiers, firstly against the Faroe Islands in Frankfurt's Volksbank Stadion on Thursday evening at 20:00 CET, then against Russia in Rostov on 29th March at 19:00 CET.

The coach reacted by calling up Max Christiansen (FC Ingolstadt) and Nadiem Amiri (1899 Hoffenheim). It is the first call-up for both players to the national U21 squad. They will join up with the team this evening.

Werner doubtful

After speaking to Eintracht manager Niko Kovac, Horst Hrubesch has decided to go without Marc Stendera. The midfielder has a slight groin injury and will regain fitness with his club side. The same is true of Joshua Kimmich, who has pulled out of the squad with muscle problems. Maximilian Arnold is out with a calf injury picked up in Wolfsburg's 1-1 draw against Darmstadt last Saturday.

Timo Werner of VfB Stuttgart is also a doubt. He is suffering from illness and will stay in Stuttgart. It remains to be seen whether or not he can travel out at some point during the international break.
