Ter Stegen to play in goal against Chile

Marc-André ter Stegen will start in goal as Germany head coach Joachim Löw is set to make "three or four changes" to the side which triumphed 3-2 over Australia for the second Confederations Cup group game against Chile on Thursday (20:00 CEST). "Hector, Kimmich, Mustafi and Draxler will play," said Löw at the press conference: "It's important to have a structure and then we can build around it."

Löw also said that he doesn't "always want to pick the same eleven" adding, "The others must also have the chance to gain experience and so that I can assess them. It doesn't make any sense to make seven or eight changes against Chile, but I can see us making three or four."

One of those alterations will come between the posts. "Marc-André ter Stegen will play in goal. We said that will be the case a few days ago," said Löw. Barcelona's number one will replace Bayer Leverkusen's Bernd Leno.

Löw is planning to pick an attacking side to face Chile. "We don't want to be dictated to by Chile. We must be resolute and look to go forward, otherwise we have no chance. Our young team needs to have the courage to attack," said Löw who is seeking his 100th win in charge of Germany in his 149th match.
