Reus receives "Germany National Team Goal of the Year" award

Marco Reus has received the 2015 Germany National Team Goal of the Year award ahead of the friendly against Italy. Fan-club members Jutta Kraas and Wolfgang Engelhard presented the Borussia Dortmund attacker with the medal at the Allianz Arena following final training on Monday evening.

"I’m delighted to have drawn level with my friend Mario Götze, who scored 2014’s Goal of the Year," said Marco Reus. “My goal was just as important as his (laughs). But in all seriousness, the fans no doubt chose this one because of the great build-up play from Sami Khedira too. That might have been what put it ahead of the other candidates."

The vote, which was run by the Fan Club Nationalmannschaft powered by Coca-Cola, saw Reus’ goal to open the scoring against Australia come out on top with 35.8%. Mario Götze was second with his strike to make it 2-0 against Poland (27.2%), while Müller’s opening goal in the same game came third (14.8%).
