Niersbach praises DFB Team

DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach is pleased with the way that the DFB Team performed at the Women’s World Cup. “Even though we didn’t reach the final, the result shows that we are one of the four best teams in the world. It’s also good to have reached the Olympics,” explained the 64-year-old on Sunday.

Niersbach also praised Germany head coach Silvia Neid. “The experience and knowledge gained at this tournament will be beneficial to the team ahead of Rio 2016,” added the DFB boss.

Germany lost the third place play-off on Sunday evening. They lost 1-0 to England, who scored an extra time penalty. They also lost 2-0 to the USA in the semis: “The tight matches show just how high the level is at the top of the game.”
