Neuer: "We'll take a positive feeling to Olympiacos"

Question: What is the mood ahead of the opening game of the new Champions League season at Olympiacos?

Neuer: We'll take a positive feeling to the game. We know that they are an opposition which we have to take seriously and nothing comes easily in the Champions League. We have to play like we did in the second half today.

Question: What is your take on the late penalty decision?

Neuer: I can't say much about it, because I was standing so far away. I asked some Augsburg players and some of my team mates about it after the game.

Question: What did they say?

Neuer: The Augsburg players weren't exactly delighted.

Manuel Neuer and FC Bayern München continued their 100 percent start to the Bundesliga season with their fourth consecutive victory in the derby with FC Augsburg. It was hard fought win but there is no time to rest, as FC Bayern kick-off their Champions League campaign at Olympiacos on Wednesday (20:45 CEST).

Following their 2-1 win over FCA, Neuer talked about the narrow victory, the start of the Champions League and the controversial penalty decision which gave FCB the chance to score the late winner.

Question: Mr. Neuer, what is your verdict on the 2-1 victory over FC Augsburg?

Manuel Neuer: It was definitely a hard-earned win. We played well in the second half and tried to win the game. We created a lot of opportunities, but couldn’t make the most of them until we were awarded the penalty.

Question: What did you think to Augsburg's 1-0 opener?

Neuer: It was Augsburg's only chance in the first half; they didn’t create much apart from that. So you go in at half time with a strange feeling. We had to show better character in the second half. We kept playing attacking football and at times only defended with three players, but they still couldn't create any counter attacking chances. We defended very well today.

Question: Has Augsburg become a bogey side for FC Bayern? What makes them so strong against you?

Neuer: We can take pride in the fact that Augsburg only created one real opportunity to score a goal. They took it clinically. It's not easy for us to break down and create chances against a team defending very deep in their own half. But we created a number of decent chances. Marwin Hitz also performed well, which made it even more difficult today.
