Mukhtar pulls out of U20 squad

DFB coach Frank Wormuth has had to change his U20 squad for the international matches against Italy on Thursday (16:00 CEST) and Poland on Monday (17:00 CEST). Ten players in total pulled out, including U19 European champion Hany Mukhtar, and all three of the originally called-up goalkeepers; Marius Funk, Michael Zetterer and Daniel Mesenhöler. Defenders Anthony Syhre, Robert Bauer, Marian Sarr, as well as Matti Steinmann and Gianluca Rizzo are also no longer in the squad.

Goalkeepers Fabian Bredlow (Hallescher FC), Alexander Brunst (VfL Wolfsburg) and Marius Gersbeck (Hertha BSC) have been selected as replacements, as well as defenders Tobias Pachonik (Stuttgarter Kickers) and Wolfsburg’s Moritz Sprenger. In midfield, Boubacar Barry (Karlsruher SC) and Sebastian Stolze (VfL Wolfsburg) will step up.
