KSC climb into third, 1860 take point from Düsseldorf

Rouwen Hennings’ brace helped Karlsruher SC beat relegation threatened SpVgg Greuther Fürth and fire his side into third in the table. KSC hold a two point lead over fourth placed Darmstadt, who suffered a 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig on Friday evening.

In the other Saturday game, TSV 1860 München secured a crucial point in the fight against relegation, drawing 1-1 in Düsseldorf. 1860 are currently in 15th place with 30 points to their name, but FC St. Pauli and Erzgebirge Aue are yet to get involved in the action on matchday 30 and could overtake them with victories from their games.

Karlsruhe conceded an early opener through Marco Rapp, but Hennings' 14th and 15th goals of the season were enough to see off Fürth, who remain in immediate relegation danger with 31 points to their name. Fürth have managed just one victory from their last 18 league games.

Daniel Adlung was on target for 1860 in Düsseldorf shortly before half time, but Michael Liendl equalised just a few minutes after the restart. Düsseldorf have not managed a win from their last four games.
