Kramer names provisional squad for U19 Euros

DFB coach Frank Kramer has named his provisional squad for the U19 European Championships in Georgia (2nd to 15th July 2017). The 45-year-old coach has initially invited 23 players to the team’s training camp in Grassau, where the U19s will be preparing for the tournament.

Kramer explained the purpose of training with the team first before selecting the squad. “We’ve put together a squad of 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers so that we can work on tactical exercises sensibly with clear aims during the eight days we are at the training camp. All the boys will have the chance to prove why they should go to the European Championships. At the end of the training camp, we will need to reduce the squad to the required size of 16 outfield players and two goalkeepers. All other players will then be on standby.”

Once the training camp is over and the final squad has been decided, the remaining 18 players will make the journey over to Georgia. They begin their campaign on 3rd July against the Netherlands (18:00 CEST) before facing Bulgaria on 6th July (18:00 CEST), after which England await them in their final group game on 9th July (18:00 CEST).

The two best teams from each of the four groups will progress to the semi-finals on 12th June. The final takes place on 15th July in Tbilisi.
