Italian media hail Klose: "A true champion"

The Italian media were full of praise for Germany World Cup winner Miroslav Klose following his superb showing in the 3-1 victory of AC Milan. “We’re perhaps a bit late on the scene but it’s great to know that there’s still centre-forwards around. Klose’s goal is anything but mundane. He’s a true champion,” wrote the Gazzetta dello Sport after Klose guided Lazio to victory over on Saturday with a goal and an assist.

“Klose is still decisive at the age of 36. He mainly starts. If veteran Miro is deployed from the off, then he’s always a class footballer,” praised the Rome daily newspaper La Repubblica.

Klose constantly tortured Milan’s defence. The Germany striker has a massive urge to repay the faith that his manager has in him,” the Corriere dello Sport commented. “Klose plays like a teenager and drives the Milan defence insane,” wrote Tuttosport.

Klose’s teammate Filip Djordjevic held the game in somewhat lesser regard though. The Serbian striker, who was subbed on for Klose in the 74th minute, suffered a break to his right ankle and will be out for several for months. Djordjevic had to be stretchered off the pitch in the 87th minute.
