Huth's Leicester out of the relegation zone

Former Germany international Robert Huth and Leicester are out of the bottom three in the English Premier League. On matchday 34, Leicester won their fourth game in a row thanks to a 1-0 victory over Burnley. Jamie Vardy (61’) scored the only goal of the game, with Huth playing the whole 90 minutes.

Former Leverkusen man Philipp Wollscheid helped Stoke City to a 1-1 draw with Sunderland. Connor Wickham opened the scoring in just the 1st minute before Charlie Adam (27’) leveled things up in the first half. Wollscheid also played the whole game.

In the battle for the Europa League places, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 2-2 draw. Graziano Pellè (29’, 65’) twice gave the Saints the lead but they were pegged back on both occasions after goals from Erik Lamela (43’) and Nacer Chadli (70’).

Germany Under-21 international Emre Can was involved in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw away at West Bromwich Albion. Midfielder Steven Gerrard made his 500th Premier League appearance for the Reds. The point for Liverpool takes them above both Tottenham and Southampton into fifth. Reigning champions Manchester City will take on Aston Villa in the game on Saturday evening.

Watford will be back in the Premier League next season for the first time in eight years. The Hornets secured automatic promotion from the Football League Championship thanks to a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Watford were relegated from the Premier League back in 2007.

The crunch match of matchday 34 takes place on Sunday (17:00 CEST) between league leaders Chelsea and second-placed Arsenal.

Primera Division: Bayern’s opponents Barcelona on course for title

Bayern München’s Champions League opponents FC Barcelona are on course for the Primera División title after winning their city derby. The league leaders beat local rivals Espanyol 2-0 on matchday 34 and extended their lead ahead of archrivals Real Madrid to five points, at least until Sunday afternoon. Real, who will face Juventus in the Champions League semi final, will play Celta Vigo (21:00 CEST).

Once again FC Barcelona, who are unbeaten in nine matches, could rely on their 66-goal South American dream attack. Brazilian Neymar scored the first goal on 17 minutes, before Argentinean Lionel Messi latched on to Urguayen Luis Suárez’s pass to make it 2-0 just eight minutes later. For Messi alone it was his 36th goal of the season.
