Barca join Dortmund in last eight after record-breaking win over PSG

Barcelona created history on Wednesday night by becoming the first side since the Champions League began to overturn a 4-0 first-leg deficit by beating Paris Saint Germain 6-1 (6-5 on aggregate) at the Nou Camp. Sergi Roberto’s last-gasp strike in the sixth minute of injury time was enough to send the Catalans through. Barca led 3-0 after the hour thanks to goals from Luis Suarez, an own goal from Lywin Kurzawa and a penalty from Lionel Messi, only for Edinson Cavani to pull a goal back and seemingly settle the tie with just under half an hour to go.

It stayed 3-1 until the 88th minute when Neymar curled a free kick into the top corner before the Brazilian converted from the penalty spot in the 91st minute to set up and incredible finish. Barcelona’s German goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen went forward for the penultimate attack, winning the ball back after it broke down and then earning his side a final free kick. The almost unbelievable turnaround was complete when Neymar’s ball over the top found Sergi, who steered it home to break the hearts of the likes of Kevin Trapp and Julian Draxler for PSG.

Dortmund join Bayern in quarterfinals after thrashing Benfica

Borussia Dortmund strolled into the last eight of the Champions League after beating Benfica 4-0 at the Signal Iduna Park and winning the tie 4-1 on aggregate. Overcoming the Portuguese champions means Thomas Tuchel’s side join FC Bayern München in the next round of the competition.

A hat-trick from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, his fifth, sixth and seventh goals in Europe this season, in addition to a strike from Christian Pulisic were enough to see the side ranked third in the Bundesliga safely through.
