Frankfurt's Meier named top scorer

Top scorer: Eintracht Frankfurt's Alexander Meier has secured the gong of top Bundesliga scorer for the first time in his career. The 32-year-old, who has been out with injury since mid-April, bagged 19 goals and claimed the award ahead of last year's winner Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben (17 goals each) of FC Bayern, Wolfsburg's Bas Dost and BVB's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (16 each).

Record players: Just like last season, the 2014/15 campaign didn’t see any players make it to the front page of the all-time rankings in terms Bundesliga appearances. FC Bayern's Claudio Pizarro has featured in the most top-flight games among the current crop of players with 383. That puts him in 80th place in the overall standings. Karl-Heinz Körbel (Eintracht Frankfurt/602 games) still leads, followed by Manfred Kaltz (Hamburger SV/581) and Oliver Kahn (Bayern München/557).

Foreign players: Claudio Pizarro made 13 appearances this season for FC Bayern, extending his lead in the all-time charts for the most appearances made by foreign players in the Bundesliga. The 36-year-old Peruvian has played in 383 Bundesliga games and is followed in the standings by Zé Roberto (Brazil) and Levan Kobiashvili (Georgia) who both made 336 appearances in Germany's top flight.

With 176 goals to his name, Pizarro is also the most prolific foreign goalscorer in Bundesliga history, even if he failed to find the net this season. His closest pursuers that are still active are Poland's Robert Lewandowski (91 goals), Bosnia's Vedad Ibisevic (82), the Netherlands’ Arjen Robben (73), Ivica Olic from Croatia (72) and Dutchman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (69).

Permanent fixtures: Eight players played the maximum of 3,060 minutes this season. Five goalkeepers in the form of Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen), Yann Sommer (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Oliver Baumann (1899 Hoffenheim), Roman Bürki (SC Freiburg), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96) and Lukas Kruse (SC Paderborn), and two outfield players, namely Ragnar Klavan (FC Augsburg) and Marcelo (Hannover 96).

Player selection: The 18 Bundesliga clubs deployed a total of 462 players this season. Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen used the most players (31 each), while Gladbach had the fewest number of players in action (19).

Assists: Kevin de Bruyne of VfL Wolfsburg set a new Bundesliga record this campaign, notching 22 assists. The previous record in terms of most assists provided in one campaign were former Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic and FC Bayern's Franck Ribery (20 each).

Own goals: Mainz’s Nikolce Noveski will end his football career after this season as the current all-time top scorer when it comes to own goals. The Macedonian defender, who has made 256 Bundesliga appearances, leads the charts together with Manfred Kaltz having found the net at the wrong end six times. However, long-time HSV player Kaltz needed 581 games to reach his tally. 20 own goals were scored in the Bundesliga this season. The most came in the 2001/2002 campaign (33) and the fewest in the 1966/67 season (10).

Goals: A total of 843 goals were scored this Bundesliga season (2.75 goals per game on average) – 124 goals fewer than last season. In the 2013/14 campaign a total of 967 goals were scored in 306 games (3.16 goals per game on average). The most goals scored in one season were 1,097 in the 1983/84 campaign.

Attendance: The 52nd Bundesliga season attracted a total of 13,320,794 spectators – an average of 43,532 per game.

Sending offs: There were 53 sending offs in the 2014/15 season - 25 straight red cards and 28 cases where a player got his marching orders after a second yellow.

Penalties: 71 penalties were awarded this season, with 13 of them saved and 58 converted. 81.69% were converted.

Oracle: In 35 of the 52 cases to date, the table toppers at Christmas lifted the trophy. This season fitted the trend; Bayern were first during the winter break. Pep Guardiola's men secured their 25th title on matchday 30.

Coach sackings: Ten coaches were sacked in the 2014/15 Bundesliga season. The record number of coaches being sacked in one season is twelve – this happened in both (2006/07 and 2010/11.

Quick-fire: Bayer 04 Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi scored the fastest goal in the history of the Bundesliga on matchday one of the 2014/15 season. The 24-year-old scored just nine seconds after kick-off in the 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. The previous record was eleven seconds, held by FC Bayern's Giovanne Elber, Leverkusen's Ulf Kirsten and Bochum's Paul Freier.

Fastest penalty call: Hamburger SV were rewarded a penalty against Paderborn on matchday 19 just eight seconds after kick-off. The fastest penalty decision in the history of the Bundesliga.

Long distance goal: SC Paderborn's Moritz Stoppelkamp scored from 82.3m out on matchday four – a new Bundesliga record. The previous record was held by Frankfurt's Giorgos Tzavellas, who had scored from 73m on 12th March 2011.

Goalscoring keeper: Marwin Hitz from FC Augsburg scored only the third keeper goal from open play in the history of the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old scored a header following a corner in injury time, securing a 2-2 draw with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The only other two keepers to have scored a Bundesliga goal from open play are Jens Lehmann for Schalke 04 in 1997 and Frank Rost for Werder Bremen in 2002.

Record defeat: Hamburger SV suffered an historic 8-0 defeat in Munich this season. HSV had never lost a game with an eight-goal margin before that.

0-0 specialists: 1. FC Köln recorded a total of 13 draws this season, nine of which ended goalless – a new Bundesliga record.
