DFB extends contract with McDonald’s until 2018

The Germany Football Association’s (DFB) partnership with the restaurant chain McDonald’s, which has been in place since 2003, has been extended by a further three years until the end of 2018.

"McDonald’s has been a trusted partner of the DFB for the last 12 years – we were able to make great progress in grassroots football with their help, and therefore we’re very happy that our partnership will continue for the next three years," said DFB president Wolfgang Niersbach.

"McDonald’s Player Escorts" make history

An important aspect of the new contract will be the continuation of the McDonald’s Player Escorts programme that gives children the opportunity to walk out onto the pitch alongside their footballing heroes during international fixtures. "We’ve been able to make the dreams of over 1,500 children come true through this programme," said Holger Beeck, chief executive of McDonald’s Deutschland. "This contract extension with the DFB gives us the opportunity to make many more children happy over the next three years."

Another condition of the contract extension is that once a season, a special charity campaign will take place in accordance with a Germany national team fixture – the "Player Escorts" for such matches will be specially-chosen children who suffer from severe disabilities.
