Curtius attends German-Chinese football meeting in Cologne

One day after signing the German-Chinese football co-operation, representatives of organisations and clubs from both countries took part in a meeting in Cologne. China’s deputy Prime Minister Liu Yandong was in attendance, as topics such as the education of the players, coaches and referees were discussed, as well as a collaboration at club level.

Together with the President of 1. FC Köln, Werner Spinner, DFL-President Dr. Reinhard Rauball opened the event. Taking part in these talks amongst others were DFB General Secretary Dr. Friedrich Curtius, DFB Treasurer Dr. Stephan Osnabrügge, DFL General Manager Christian Seifert, Peter Peters (1st DFL Vice-President), as well as Jörg Wacker (Chairman of Internationalisation, Merchandising at FC Bayern München), Carsten Cramer (Director of Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Borussia Dortmund), Alexander Jobst (Chairman of Marketing at FC Schalke 04) and Alexander Wehrle (General Manager at 1. FC Köln). The Chinese partners also arrived with Minister of Education Hao Ping and Deputy Minister of the national office for sport, Cai Zhenhua, who is also the President of the Football Association, as well as several club representatives.

Continuous, mutual exchanges planned

The co-operation, which is initially set to last five years, contains a comprehensive agreement on a state level, as well as treaties between the DFB and the DFL with the Chinese Ministry of Education and China’s Football Association. The collaboration aims for continuous, mutual exchanges between both countries. Through extensive measures, the aim is also to help the growth of Chinese football.
