Bielefeld top the table over Christmas

Arminia Bielfeld will return as table toppers at the end of January 2015 after securing a 2-0 victory against Chemnitzer FC in their final encounter of the year. Fabian Klos (4’) and Christoph Heimlein (51’) secured Arminia’s fifth win in a row. With 43 points from 22 games they have a three point advantage ahead of their closest pursuers Preußen Münster, who lost away to FC Energie Cottbus. Chemnitz continue to struggle, dropping to 13th place after their fifth straight defeat in the league.

Münster suffered a 2-1 defeat in Cottbus. Zbynek Pospech (12’) opened the scoring for Cottbus before Benjamin Siegert (47’) equalised shortly after the break. Tim Kleindienst (79’) scored the winner, which ensured Cottbus 5th place during the winter break.

Dresden secure victory

Dynamo Dresden managed a 2-1 victory against ten-men VfL Osnabrück. Stanislav Iljutcenko (29’) was on target for the visitors in the first half before Tobias Willers was red-carded (34’). Marco Hartmann (51’) and Justin Eilers (61’) ensured Dresden are in fourth place after matchday 22.

Kiel win northern derby

Hansa Rostock suffered a 4-0 home defeat to Holstein Kiel in the northern derby. Marlon Krause opened the scoring in the tenth minute. Rostock’s Robin Krauße handled the ball in the area after 51 minutes and was sent off for his second bookable offense. Rafael Kazior converted the penalty to put Kiel two goals ahead. Patrick Breitkreuz (75’) and Maik Kegel (89’) also added their name to the scoresheets. Kiel remain a mid-table team in 10th place, while Rostock continue to battle against relegation, currently in 19th place.

Rot-Weiß Erfurt failed to manage back-to-back wins, only recording a 2-2 draw on the road against VfB Stuttgart II. Sebastian Tyrala (19’) and Andreas Wiegel (45’) were on target for Erfurt, while Jerome Kiesewetter (38’) and Marco Grüttner (90’) salvaged a draw for the hosts. Erfurt jump to 8th place, while Stuttgart drop to 15th.

Braun and Engelbrecht fire Kickers to victory

Stuttgarter Kickers managed a 2-0 win against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. It was their third straight win and they spend Christmas as 3rd in the standings. Sandrino Braun (30’) and Daniel Engelbrecht (79’) provided the goals against ten-men Großaspach. Nicolas Jüllich was sent off after his second yellow card in the 66th minute.

The encounter between Borussia Dortmund and SV Wehen Wiesbaden was cancelled due to the condition of the pitch. Heavy rainfall had made the pitch unplayable.
